Lara Kronenbitter war mit den zwei (ehemaligen) DeZIM-Kolleg*innen Sophia Aalders und Steffen Beigang am Montag, den 20.2., auf einer Pressekonferenz im Sächsischen Justizministerium in Dresden, um die Ergebnisse der gemeinsamen, bei Nomos publizierten Studie "Diskriminierung erlebt?! Diskriminierungserfahrungen in Sachsen” vorzustellen.

Lara Kronenbitter has been with the two (former) DeZIM-colleagues Sophia 
Aalders and Steffen Beigang at a press conference on Monday, February 20, at the Saxon 
Ministry of Justice in Dresden to present the results of the joint study "Discrimination Experienced? Experiences of Discrimination in Saxony“ published by Nomos.

Özgür Özvatan, Bastian Neuhauser und Gökçe Yurdakul haben soeben den spannenden Artikel 
„The 'Arab Clans' Discourse: Narrating Racialization, Kinship and Crime in the German Media”
veröffentlicht. Es ist die erste empirische Systematisierung (ca. 24.000 Artikel zu "Clans") der medialen 
Aufarbeitung von "Clans" & "Arabischen Großfamilien" zwischen 2010 und 2020.

Özgür Özvatan, Bastian Neuhauser and Gökçe Yurdakul have just published the highly interesting 
article "The 'Arab Clans' Discourse: Narrating Racialization, Kinship and Crime in the German Media".
It is the first empirical systematization (approx. 24,000 articles on "clans") of the medial reappraisal of 
"clans" & "Arab extended families" between 2010 and 2020.

Nach sieben Jahren am BIM – anfangs als studentische Hilfskraft, dann als wissenschaftliche 
Mitarbeiterin und Lehrende – verlässt Katarina Stjepandić, mit der Doktorarbeit im Gepäck, 
das Institut. Ab Mitte April wird sie für die Integrations- und Antirassismusbeauftragte Reem 
Alabali-Radovan im Bundeskanzleramt arbeiten. Noch genauer: Im Referat zur Bekämpfung 
von Rassismus und für die Unterstützung Betroffener von rechter und rassistischer Gewalt 
unter der Leitung von Yasemin Schooman. Wir wünschen alles Gute für die Zukunft!

After 7 years at the BIM – initially as a student assistant, then as a scientific – 
Katarina Stjepandić leaves the institute with her doctoral thesis in tow. From mid-April, she will be working for the integration and anti-racism 
officer Reem Alabali-Radovan at the Federal Chancellery. More specifically, in the unit 
for combating racism and for the support of victims of right-wing and racist violence
headed by Yasemin Schooman. We wish all the best for the future!

Wie Geflüchtete aus der Ukraine in Deutschland leben, darüber informiert ein neuer gemeinschaftlich 
erarbeiteter hochaktueller Forschungsbericht, an dem neben zahlreichen anderen auch Herbert Brücker 
beteiligt war – und der vertiefte, repräsentative Ergebnisse der Studie „Geflüchtete aus der Ukraine in 
Deutschland" liefert.

How refugees from Ukraine live in Germany is the subject of a new collaborative cutting-edge research 
report, in which Herbert Brücker was involved along with many othersand – and which provides in-depth, 
representative results of the study "Refugees from Ukraine in Germany".

Das Land Berlin ist mit einer Beschwerde beim Bundesverfassungsgericht 
gescheitert – und kann Lehrerinnen nicht pauschal das Tragen eines Kopftuchs 
verbieten, wie es das Neutralitätsgesetz festschreibt, das nun angepasst

and cannot ban female teachers from wearing headscarves across the board, 
as stipulated in the Neutrality Act, which now must be amended. On this topic,

Bernd Kasparek hat letzte Woche im Seminar von Regina Römhild seine 
Forschungen zur europäischen Grenzschutzagentur Frontex vorgestellt 
(fast zeitgleich mit den aktuellen Verschärfungen der EU-Asylpolitik) und 
sich mit der Frage beschäftigt, was kritische Migrationsforschung gegenwärtig 
bedeuten könnte.


Bernd Kasparek presented his research on the European border management 
agency Frontex last week in Regina Römhild's seminar (almost at the same time 
as the current tightening of the EU's asylum policy) and talked about the question 
of what critical migration research could mean at present.
