The DeZIM Institute is pleased to welcome the renowned sociologist Prof. Dr. Nancy Foner from the City University of New York (CUNY) as a DeZIM Fellow in Berlin.
In her book "One Quarter of the Nation: Immigration and Transformation of America", Nancy Foner shows how immigrants and their children have changed American society in profound and far-reaching ways. She discusses how they have rejuvenated urban and rural communities, strengthened the economy, and influenced virtually every facet of American culture, from food to novels to popular music.
Prof. Dr. Gökce Yurdakul, Georg Simmel Professor of Diversity and Social Conflict at Humboldt University in Berlin, will be the guest speaker, author and journalist Annika Brockschmidt (ZEIT Online and Tagesspiegel) will moderate the event, and DeZIM Director Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan will welcome our guests.

Sie erörtert, wie sie städtische und ländliche Gemeinden verjüngt, die Wirtschaft gestärkt und praktisch jede Facette der amerikanischen Kultur – vom Essen über Romane bis zur populären Musik – beeinflusst haben.
