Damian Ghamlouche is scientific director and founding member of BIM.

He holds a degree in political science (Freie Universität Berlin, Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science) and has broad experience in project development and public relations.
 


Academic career



Since 2008 he has been a staff member of the HEYMAT project (Volkswagen Foundation).

From 2010 to 2011 he was project manager of the "Young Islam Conference - Berlin 2011" (Stiftung Mercator). In 2012 he accompanied the "Young Islam Conference" as a project management assistant, and in 2013 he was a research assistant for the "Young Islam Conference - Germany".

From mid-2013 to mid-2014, he was a research assistant in the project network Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan (HEYMAT, JUNITED and CODISP) at the Institute of Social Sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin and was funded here by the Fritz Behrens Foundation.

From July to December 2014, he was a research assistant for the research project "Integration, Migration and Sport - Scientific Monitoring and Evaluation of the DOSB Program "Integration through Sport" in the Department of Sociology of Sport at the Institute of Sport Sciences at the Humboldt University of Berlin.

From August 2014 to April 2018, he was a research assistant to the directorate of the "Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research" (BIM).

Since February 2016, he has been the research coordinator of the thematic area "Integration and Migration" and is based in the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Cultural, Social and Educational Sciences. Here he is responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of research projects and this within the faculty and outside the faculty with a view to the entire Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Since April 2018, he has been the scientific managing director of the Interdisciplinary Center BIM and heads its office. He is responsible for the scientific and organizational coordination of the institute.
