Trainee Groups

Project

Junior research groups (NWGs) are independent and mostly third-party funded research groups with their own research objective.

Each group has its own budget and finances scientific and student employees. The leadership of a junior research group represents a further career path to a professorship. The position of junior research group leaders is most comparable to that of junior professors. Although they belong to the status group of mid-level faculty, junior research group leaders are independent in their research work and are not bound by instructions. They are not obliged to teach, but are authorized to give lectures. In addition, junior research group leaders have the right to guide doctoral students towards a doctorate.
