Inventur und Invention. Migration als Prisma für die Krisen unserer Zeit
Project description
Migration is one of the most controversial phenomena of our time. We turn the perspective around: In close dialogue between anthropological and philosophical approaches, we dedicate ourselves to inventorying research and proposals to rethink migration as a knowledge-generating practice, with the aim of developing a relevant perspective for our time that fosters a solidarity-driven future. To open new research spaces, we combine diagnoses regarding (a) new forms of governance over populations, (b) the challenges of climate change and its effects on human mobility, and (c) the racist configurations of the social in a global context. In light of such diagnoses, we are convinced that the humanities and cultural sciences should contribute to (re)formulating how social relationships should be structured to address the current existential questions facing humanity. The project deliberately expands the framework of scientific discussions and engages in a series of workshops to foster dialogue with social and cultural actors who, with their organic knowledge and inventive ways of thinking, contribute to the exploration of new forms of solidarity-based cooperation that are commensurate with the scale, complexity, and temporal and spatial reach of the current challenges.
