Civic engagement of women with migration background: Inclusion- and participation in refugee support work (FemPart)

A notable part of volunteers in refugee support work are women with migration experience themselves: more than 70% of volunteers in refugee support work are women and nearly 16% have a migration background. However, the involvement of migrants in this field has mostly been neglected politically, scientifically and even in the media.

This project aims at the formulation of political and organizational recommendations in order to improve the  engagement's conditions of migrants within the civil society using qualitative interviews focusing on female volunteers with migration background as well as experts.

This research is conducted in cooperation with the Institute of Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) - University Osnabrück.
