PROFILE

Emrah Konuralp has been a Fellow at BIM since June 2026. Between 2024 and 2026, as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, he worked on right-wing populism, supported by a postdoctoral fellowship of the Turkish research council TÜBİTAK (programme 2219).

His interest lies in how right-wing populist parties discursively order belonging and non-belonging in immigration societies and under which conditions those orderings translate into electoral behaviour. Methodologically he combines critical discourse analysis with quantitative analyses. He earned his BS, MS and PhD degrees from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara.

He is an associate professor at Iğdır University and editor-in-chief of the journal Lectio Socialis. At Humboldt-Universität he teaches the seminar "Right-Wing Populism in Comparative Perspective".
