PROFILE
Ayşe Arslan worked in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Hacettepe University from 2011 to 2024 (with the exception of the period from 2014 to 2018, when she was pursuing her Ph.D.). In 2019, she earned her Ph.D. from SOAS, University of London. Her dissertation was awarded the Leigh Douglas Memorial Prize by the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies in the UK in 2020 and the Young Social Scientist Prize by the Turkish Social Sciences Association in Turkey in 2019. Her book *Women's Productive and Reproductive Labor: Class and Gender Inequalities in Turkey* was published by Routledge in 2024. She has also published peer-reviewed journal articles and contributions to edited volumes in English and Turkish.
Ayşe Arslan’s research focuses on class, gender, reproductive labor, labor regimes, the organization of the working class, migration, and everyday life and the political economy of Turkey. In her postdoctoral research, she examines how the relationships between class and gender affect and are influenced by the processes of labor organization, labor mobility, and collective struggle in the Turkish garment industry by closely examining these relationships in the productive and reproductive spheres.
