Dr. Christian Hunkler studied social sciences and marketing in Mannheim, Utrecht, and Bloomington. He earned his doctoral degree in sociology from Mannheim University with a thesis on ethnic inequality in access to dual vocational education. After his dissertation he worked for the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich, Konstanz University, and DeZIM-Institute. Since October 2019 he is senior researcher in the units "Labor Market, Migration, and Integration" and "Education and Integration" at BIM.
His current research focuses on integration, especially the integration of refugees in Germany, ethnic and gender inequality on the labor market and the use of process generated (“Big Data”) for social scientific research, e.g., the relationship of age and productivity.
