PROFILE
Rani Abi-Haidar has been a student assistant to Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan since 2023. In this role, he assists with the organization, planning, and administration of courses and public events. He also helps with literature reviews and contributes to discussions regarding publications and research projects.
He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in political science and Islamic studies (BA). Previously, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. His work to date has focused on critical research into migration and border regimes, as well as (diasporic) memory culture in Germany. His current research focuses on political alliances, memory culture in Lebanon, and the ongoing political and social transformation processes in the Middle East. In the coming semester, he will continue his studies at the American University of Beirut and the Orient Institute in Beirut, Lebanon, to expand his theoretically grounded work with a regional perspective.
